UNESCO WH Butrinti, Albania through a VR approach.

In this research we explore Butrinti, an endangered UNESCO World Heritage site located in Albania, by using virtual reality modeling techniques. We have taken an interdisciplinary approach to allowing historical and archaeological perspectives to be explored through a computer based presentation methodology. In this paper, we will present the historical background of the site, followed by our results in the virtual reconstruction of Butrinti. Finally, we will discuss some of the issues and problems encountered when attempting to model such a complex site as Butrinti, and provide next step solutions for overcoming them.
