CULTURES AND CIVILIZATIONS ON THE MACEDONIAN SOIL

1. Topic (Geographical, historical and cultural frames) Topic of the project is cultural history of Macedonia. Chronologically, project will be encircled from the prehistorical period up to 15th century. Geographically, it will be placed on the territory of Republic of Macedonia today. In some cases assigned by the streams of past cultural periods and approaches to their illumination, events and occurrences will be followed from the wider region connected in any aspect (geographical, political, cultural) with Macedonia. Basic accent will be put onto main historical events, change of the populations, cultures and civilizations as well on the flow of religious and spiritual movements in total, and in this frame, on the material culture and art as their manifestation. Social changes, organization of the socium and shape and structure of the settlements (tribe, village, city, fortress, state, church) will be touched. Some cultural phenomena forced until now (e.g. early Christian basilicas and mosaics or Middle Age churches and frescoes and icons in them) will be avoided on account of other phenomena, e.g.: outlook and locations of other categories of buildings and of the Late Antique and Middle Age towns in Macedonia, in which borders that sacral objects have existed, and which are completely unknown to the wider audience. All that contents in CD-ROM will be presented as highly organized Database from several different media: - written text - spoken text - music and sounds - sketches (maps, chronological tables, technical sketches etc) - photos - short film i.e. video sequences - computer animations The system himself in which all facts will be recorded and presented will dictate their appearance as the wholesome, but from the other hand, as sum of separate elements which according to the wishes and needs of the consumer, will be organized in several separate parts. 2. Criteria satisfied by this project Database will be organized on several parallel levels and every of each will take part in the realization of several basic functions. 2. 1. Basic-educational level This level by well measured and clearly formulated information wit audio and visual character will allow the consumer (Macedonian and foreign) preview and memorizing of basic information connected with cultural history of Macedonia. The information level and their presentation will allow introduction into the contents for the wide range of consumers, from the lower level of education till the formed intellectual profile. 2. 2. Aesthetical-artistical and spiritual level Database is created to possess high aesthetical-artistical level, which will be obvious from the quality of the visual materials, from the choice and organization of all presented data on the level of speech and sound (language, photos, sketches, animations, video sequences, text, music, style, composition of text and the way of reading, style of the letters etc). All these element will mark the basic core - Database with characteristic spirit of this environment. This level represents the second goal of this project - product to be created which not only will educated, but also will be for pleasure (in categories: aesthetical, fun). This will be real contribution for the relationship build between the consumer and the land representing, and respect for cultural history of Macedonia and of the population lived here will be achieved. 2. 3. Professional level Consisting the fact that cultural history of Macedonia is not presented yet in any other media in the context of the possibilities offered by latest technologies (video and computer technology), this project will do the pioneer step in the production and introduction of these achievements in the other media and cultural activities (it can be used as video cassette, computer presentation in museums, in the education system, in the tourist branch, in TV media etc). Realization of this project includes more professional collaborators, which are engaged into the cultural heritage and in this area specific approaches to the objects from the past will be initiated: 3D objects from the past modeling, common presentation of the objects or fragments never be put together in real life or never been seen in the complete condition (architectural objects, frescoes, icons etc). 3. Assignment-application This project products will be used on two ways: - as encircled wholesome recorded on CD-ROM - as separate parts. 3.1. As encircled wholesome recorded on CD-ROM product will be assigned to be use for the following categories of consumers: a) All categories of private consumers (and all language areas according to the translated versions); b) Education institutions of different kinds. We are an opinion that this is the most reliable category of buyers and for them is of special benefit to have this CD-ROM in the libraries, especially for the high school education institutions, college rank institutions, different kind of seminars and courses for Macedonian language and culture etc. c) Cultural organizations - museums and other institutions. d) Tourist organizations (especially agencies, hotels or tourists themselves). This will have positive side-effect in deepening of the connections between Republic of Macedonia and the World. e) Different kinds of Government organizations and institutions to be presented themselves or through the CD-ROM. f) Television shows and other public perfomances. g) Printed monographs, schoolbooks etc.
