UNESCO Helps to Develop Uganda's Community Multimedia Centre (CMC) Network August 31, 2001

[9.1.2001 | ]

IDRC and UNESCO are partnering with the Ugandan Government to develop a national network of Community Multimedia Centres (CMCs). These centres will be established in rural or peri-urban settings, with the view to reaching disadvantaged population groups in the country, by overcoming barriers of universal access to information through the use of new and traditional information and communication technologies. Each CMC will bring together in a novel manner two technologies that have already been piloted in African rural communities: community radio and multipurpose community telecentres (MCTs). http://www.unesco.org/webworld/news/2001/010831_uganda.shtml
